Shane Caryl was born in Syracuse, NY. He attended the Rochester Institute of Technology where he obtained his BFA in Glass and is now back again finishing off his masters in glass. His work has been a study of pop culture and its relationship to the contemporary art scene. He has always been interested in the comparison between highbrow and lowbrow mentalities that can be found in the contemporary art world, and has been making work that challenges the distinction between these two ways of thinking by making them one and the same.
