Micah Evans is a glass artist and designer living and working in Austin Texas. Glass has been an obsession for Micah since the late 90’s, he’s been known to refer to it as a disorder more than a craft or art form. His work is a balance of contemporary craft, and sculpture. Micah travels, teaches and lectures at schools and universities around the world about flameworking, design and glass subculture in the United States. His recent accomplishments are many, but he is most proud of the milestone of checking his email more than once a month.

In 2016 Micah began designing full time for GRAV Labs, a product design company based in Austin Texas. This opportunity has presented him with a window into glass manufacturing which changed the way he thought about the material and how it can be used. He regularly visits glass studios and factories in China to research new ways of working and designing in borosilicate glass. His current focus is on engineering and adapting small scale manufacturingprocesses observed in Asia to his studio practice. This is a paradigm shift for Micah, everything he thought he understood about borosilicate glass and what can be done with it has been turned on its head.
