Dean Allison

Instructor

Dean Allison works with figurative sculpture and portraits with glass. He begins with a life cast of a subject. The final portrait, made in cast glass expresses the fragility and transparency of the human experience through a medium that inherently captures those qualities. The work is a document, a three- dimensional photograph that examines preconceptions and perception towards individuals. Studio Artist, Pittsburgh PA. Resident artist, Penland North Carolina, 2015-2018. Master of Art, Visual Arts in Glass, Australian National University, 2010. B.S. in Studio Arts, Illinois State University, 2001.
