Celeste Wilson

Studio Residency: 2017

Celeste Wilson is an artist, writer and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. Wilson received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and has also studied at Haystack Mountain School of Craft, Pilchuck Glass School and the School of Visual Arts. She has worked and taught at numerous glass and sculpture studios. Her work takes many different forms including objects, video and installation, and is always centered on themes of materiality and imperfections and an interest in making and manufacturing. Much of Wilson's work is process based and involves using traditional techniques with modern materials. She has received many awards including the RISD Glass Department Award of Excellence (2010), Pilchuck/RISD Partner Scholarship (2008), a fellowship at the Creative Glass Center of America at Wheaton Arts (2013), and a forthcoming fellowship at the Vermont Studio Center in January 2017.

Celeste's residency in 2017 was supported by the Jerry Raphael Fellowship of the Metropolitan Contemporary Glass Group.
