Opening: Silvia Levenson’s solo project at Italian gallery debuts Saturday

Silvia Levenson's cast-glass cosmetics bottles are at an intimate scale to take on the idea of life strategies.

On April 24th, Silvia Levenson‘s solo exhibition “El Plan Era Perfecto” will open at SANSALVATORE ARTPROJECT, a contemporary art gallery in Modena, Italy. Curated by Argentinian artist Elizabeth Aro, the exhibition deals with Levenson’s metaphoric take on intimacies of everyday life including in the form of cosmetics bottles emblazoned with words that describe a modern longing for control, and a need to be relentlessly upbeat, or at least present the appearance of it.

In Silvia Levenson's work, the whimsical and everyday provide a disarming entry point for metaphysical concerns.

According to the solo exhibition’s curator, Levenson’s photos, objects, and videos presents modern strategies for living, organized and classified in a way that belies their true longings. “This whole order reveals a feeling of non-involvement and vulnerability in front of a mysterious world characterized by solitude,” writes Aro in an announcement about the exhibition.

The logos of beauty product packaging are employed to offer provocations to think about contemporary life and the effort to find calm and order in a chaotic world.
