With Kelly Conway’s move to The Corning Museum of Glass, her endowed position at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia, is open. The institution is seeking applicants with an advanced degree, preferably a PhD, with extensive knowledge of American and European glass. With a minimum of three years of experience, the ideal candidate will be a good communicator, with a demonstrated ability to reach both broad and specialized audiences. Since 2012, the curatorial position has been known as the Carolyn and Richard Barry Curator of Glass.

The official job posting, which can be viewed here, stresses sociability, and cites the need for “considerable interpersonal and teamwork skills” as well as the ability to “perform as a member of a dynamic museum team dedicated to welcoming and serving the public and passionate about the capacity of works of art to change people’s lives.”

The Chrysler, on schedule to complete a major renovation by April 2014, will be an exciting place to work as the glass collection is one area of the museum getting new presentations in orientation and study centers.

No deadline is given but the posting has been up on the Chrysler Website since August 1st. Applicants are instructed to send a cover letter, resume, and short writing sample to hr@chrysler.org.
