Glass Society of Ireland: a source for networking and connecting in the art community in Ireland

The Glass Society of Ireland is both a useful and beneficial way to communicate through a network specifically for the glass community. While the Glass Society of Ireland has been established for a number of years, the current society was re-launched in October of 2012, a close source tells the Hot Sheet.

A networking group for historians, working or new artists, eager students, and enthusiasts in Ireland, The Glass Society of Ireland serves as a volunteer-run organization whose interest is focused on glass art. It helps in connecting the community by both continuing to support those who are apart of it, as well as establishing new talent.

Creating and maintaining both connections and audiences are key in the industry, and that is the message that the Glass Society of Ireland is conveying. As they state on their website, it is “achieved through a number of platforms: exhibition-making, holding events such as conferences, workshops and public talks, networking through social media and information distribution through our website, blog and monthly e-bulletin.”

For updates in the glass community, be sure to check out The Glass Society of Ireland’s resources which are maintained regularly for upcoming events and news on their website, blog, and social media pages which are on Facebook and Twitter.

Glass: The UrbanGlass Quarterly, a glossy art magazine published four times a year by UrbanGlass has provided a critical context to the most important artwork being done in the medium of glass for more than 40 years.
