Corning Museum of Glass website receives a new look

The redesigned Website of The Corning Museum of Glass presents information in a new, more-engaging manner.

The Corning Museum of Glass may be known for innovations within the glass world, but their newest development is the redesign of their web-site. Visitors now have the ability to explore nearly any aspect of glass, from any time and any place, thanks to the widened accessibility of archived resources.

In the words of the executive director, Karol Wight: “We’ve made new digitized materials from our Library available, are sharing every single video we’ve ever produced and are publishing articles that address glass from many angles. Visitors to our site can easily access information about glass at any level that interests them.”

The updated site allows viewers to explore centuries of glass work through an integrated search function of over 200,000 archived text, images, and videos. These records are courtesy of the increased digital access to both the Museum and the Raskow Research Library.

Behind the Glass, the Museum’s blog providing a closer look to the inner workings of a glass studio, has been integrated into the website. The Museum’s YouTube channel is also now available directly from the Museum’s page. These videos offer an array of interviews and demonstrations with glass artists.

User-friendliness has increased with the presence of improved technology, such as the ability to book classes online or browse through calendars of the monthly events. A mobile site for smart phones was also launched for visitors to easily plan trips to the Museum while on-the-go.

The redesigned website can be accessed here.
