Applications are now being accepted for The Glass Art Society’s annual Technology Advancing Glass (TAG) research grant. The award goes to an artist or group of artists “exploring new materials, techniques, making methods, or applications of technology that will generally advance the field of art made with glass”, according to a press release issued by the artist organization..
The TAG grant recipients will be awarded up to $5000, and will also have their findings published in the annual GAS Journal.
In 2014—the first year the grant was awarded—the TAG grant was awarded to Anna Mlasowsky, an artist who has been working largerly with a process that utilizes 3D computer modeling. Although GAS received 38 proposals that varied greatly from one another last year, this year, GAS is encouraging applicants to submit an even broader, bolder array of proposals. "Proposals are limited only by the imagination of our artists”, GAS emphasized in their press release.
Applications must be submitted by July 31st via the GAS website. One submitted, the TAG committee will review the proposals over the summer and announce the winner in the winter.
