Columbus, Ohio will play host to a dynamic international survey of glass art this summer in the form of an ambitious new exhibition entitled B.I.G.G.: Breakthrough Ideas in Global Glass. A jury made up of artist Lino Tagliapietra, curator Tina Oldknow, and art dealer Tom Hawk have selected 43 artists who create innovative pieces “with a conceptual and working engagement in glass.”

The B.I.G.G. exhibition opens July 10, 2009, and will remain on view through October 10. This event is a collaboration between the Ohio State University Department of Art’s Glass Program and two gallery spaces: the OSU Urban Arts Space, which will showcase 29 artists, and Hawk Galleries, which will exhibit the remaining 13.

Among the artists featured are: Mielle Riggie, Vanessa Cutler, Richard Price, Amy Rueffert, Hyunsung Cho, and Scott Darlington. Prior to the July 10 opening, award winners will be announced. The awards include representation at the 2009 SOFA Chicago Expo, an exhibition at Steuben Glass, and residency fellowships, with one artist receiving a year-long OSU Department of Art post-MFA fellowship.
