Join us for a wonderful conversation between Shahzia Sikander, Yasmeen Siddiqui, and Alpesh Kantilal Patel discuss The Glass Mosque; a collaboration among Sikander, composer Vijay Iyer, poet Bhanu Kapil, and author Fred Moten. Sikander, Iyer, Kapil, and Moten are equal partners in this three-year creative project which began in 2022.

Join us for a night of togetherness at UrbanGlass in the Hot Shop on Monday Oct 30th, 2023. Marc Barreda will be onsite demonstrating how to make trick glasses and Kitty Lameris will join in via zoom for a virtual presentation to share further insights found in their research. Their book Trick Glasses will be available for purchase at the event. Light refreshments will be provided.
Doors open at 5:30 PM, the Demo begins at 6.
Sita Syamini: A Land of Fractured Jewels

Sita's Window Gallery exhibition features installations and landscapes with gemstones mined throughout America. The stones are encased in borosilicate, soft and recycled glass using traditional and non-traditional glassblowing and flameworking techniques.

Calling NYC teens! Get inspired by artwork and create some of your own with a drop-in drawing session in our Agnes Varis Art Center. Explore our biennial exhibition of recent MFA graduates and sketch in the gallery from works in the exhibit. This exhibition features installations, sculptures and prints that all utilize glass from five different artists of all backgrounds. Stay and develop drawings for the whole event, or swing by for a quick doodle. Optional group share and discussion throughout! Art materials and snacks are provided, but feel free to bring your trusty sketchbook.
