Roxana de Leon: Ripe For The Picking
May 13th – June 26th, 2026Exhibitions
Opening reception May 13, from 6-8 PM.
This show is made in the artist's fantasy style of natural figures of Mycelia, Animalia, Flora and Insecta. From the most grandiose in scale, the ‘Toxics’, to the smallest, the maggots and flies, all the show elements are highly inspired by real life. Born from negative situations and also perpetrators of such situations, the Toxics spread the spores of incompatibility further, speaking on dark life-cycles The maggots and flies are more literal as they denote which pieces are 'alive' or 'dead' and what role the light life-cycle plays in the artwork's story. The large spider and web sculptures represent truths, repressed instincts, and also high-level craftsmanship inspired by actual spiders as artists in their own right. Ripe for the Picking is a super-sized, pseudo-ecological, installation that exists to transport viewers into the horribly delightful glass jungle that is created specifically for a fishbowl feeling, window gallery show.
