NYCJW x UrbanGlass: Handcrafted in Flame

November 21st, 2026
11:00 am - 3:00 pm

UrbanGlass is partnering with NYC Jewelry Week to present a day of hands-on experiences and live demonstrations celebrating the artistry behind handmade jewelry. Taking place on Saturday, November 21, the event invites participants to explore how everyday adornment is created—from molten glass to finished piece. Visitors can join 45-minute beadmaking sessions in the flame shop (ages 14+) and jewelry construction workshops in the classroom (ages 10+), each offering a step-by-step look at the techniques, tools, and decisions that shape handcrafted work. Ongoing live demos throughout the day will further reveal the transformation of raw materials into wearable objects, highlighting the skill and care embedded in each piece.

The event also features a pop-up market showcasing work by artists from The Bead Project—UrbanGlass’s program that provides women, femmes, and gender non-conforming individuals with training in glass beadmaking, design, and small business skills.

Artists of the Bead Project will be leading the workshops, demonstrating their process, and selling their work, offering visitors a direct connection to the makers and the stories behind the jewelry. Together, the day celebrates craft, process, and the enduring value of the handmade.
