Julia is a lifelong New Yorker with an interest in beautiful things and the people who make them. With a background in art history and archaeological research, she’s especially drawn to glass for its long-spanning history and ability to endure the test of time. Julia’s practice focuses on organic shapes, forms, and textures, and she is always looking for new ways to combine her beads with crochet and other textile work.
Julia received her BA from the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College, double majoring in Greek & Latin Studies and Art History with a minor in Classical Archaeology. Her studies of the ancient world began in language and literature, but she ultimately found herself more invested in the objects that are left behind - sacred or mundane, treasured or forgotten, each item reveals something about the people it once belonged to. She likes to think of her work in this way, and often wonders where her beads will be in hundreds or even thousands of years.
