The Australian National University has announced a call for international applicants for the 2014 Stephen Procter Fellowship, an award established in 2001 in memory of Stephen Procter (1946 – 2001), an artist and former head of the university’s Glass Workshop. The award promises to enable one non-Australian glass artist to expand his or her professional opportunities, including $5,000 towards a six- to eight-week residency at the Glass Workshop.

Along with the ability to live and work with students and staff of the workshop, the fellowship offers the recipient artist access to shared studio space, equipment, and the facilities. Since Proctor encouraged traveling and the strengthening of connections among the glass communities of the world, through additional funding, the award additionally hopes to fund the recipient to engage with other glass facilities and artists of Australia.

Ten fellowships have been awarded since the award’s creation. Past recipients include Blanche Tilden, Harumi Yukutake, Alexandra Chambers, Mark Zirpel, Brenden Scott French, Rebecca Chernow, Deirdre Feeney, Matt Szosz, Mel George, Amber Cowan, and Patricia Roan.

The deadline for both mailed and online applications is September 2, 2013. For more information and to enter the online application portal, click here.
