UrbanGlass seeks curatorial proposals for exhibitions that explore the various uses of glass as a creative medium. Our 1,500 foot gallery is the only non-profit space in New York City devoted to the various uses of glass in contemporary art and design and seeks to present varied perspectives and viewpoints on the material.
Proposals should be no longer than 400 words and should feature a cohesive exhibition idea. In addition, proposals may include an unconfirmed artist list. Exhibitions should incorporate glass in some way or be responsive to the material but can also feature other materials that relate to the show’s central idea. The winning curator will receive a budget ($3,000) and an honorarium ($1,000) for their work organizing the show and contributing a 1,500 word essay, along with administrative support from the UrbanGlass staff. For examples of past shows, you may look at our past exhibitions page.

Please note solo exhibitions organized by the exhibiting artist will not be considered.
Submission deadline: January 27, 2017 at midnight EST
Proposals will be reviewed by a panel of artists, curators, and UrbanGlass staff and the selected exhibition will be presented at UrbanGlass for 2 months in late 2017. Selected applicant will be announced and notified in February and the show will open in the fall of 2017.
