Intro to Beads May

May 11th, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Tara Traister |

This beginner workshop will guide students in the creation of their very own wearable beads! We will explore color and form through the lens of pattern and texture, applying your unique voice to the art of flameworked glass beads. With safety talks and demonstrations, students will learn the process of melting colorful glass rods at the torch and how to use a basic set of tools to shape the molten material.

What to Expect: Beadmaking requires a little practice at heat control with the torch to create successful beads. After demonstrations, expect to make between 4- 10 successful objects in this class, and a couple failures, while gaining confidence and skill in the studio. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.

Eligibility: No previous experience required. Open to ages 12 and up.

Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight then be carefully removed from the mandrels, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.
