Experience Engraving (1 hour slots)

February 22nd, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Jane Bruce |

Glass engraving is a form of decorating glass that involves creating a design that is engraved (ground) into a glass surface or object. Designed as an introductory experience to the technique, up to two participants can sign up for a one hour private lesson with one of our expert instructors who will walk you through the basics of glass engraving. Glass will be provided, however, participants are welcome to bring one or two small glass objects of their choice, such as a tumbler or small vase, to practice on.

Glass engraving is considered by many to be a dying art form. While this is far from accurate it is certainly a form that has seen its heyday come and go. Whilst the oldest known engraved glass dates to around 1490 BCE, contemporary artists, such as the Scottish engraver Alison Kinnaird, are reinvigorating and updating the techniques. Come experience the magic of this ancient technique, and transform an object of your own.
