Frittastic: Pâte de verre

In this fast paced five-day intensive with Alicia, you will learn some of the incredible possibilities of pâte de verre.  We will cover model making, mold making, patterning with glass powders, color layering, and tamping skills. You will see how kilns are loaded and we will discuss firing cycles. You will receive thorough handouts which cover materials used, techniques, and firing schedules.  All of this to create unique objects or vessels with specific color placement. And there will be discussion covering other methods of pâte de verre and chocolate!

What to Expect: 

This class is open to all levels. Class demonstrations usually precede work time. The first day and a half will have more demonstration time, but the emphasis is on participant work time, and this will increase toward the end. The demonstration vs work time might be 30/70 or 40/60. Participants can expect to leave with three finished objects plus sample tiles, this varies depending on the participants Choices. Eligibility: No previous experience required. Open to ages 14 and up.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration. 

Additional work time for intensive students: Students will also have access to additional hours in the studio, without instruction, on Tuesday - Friday from 5-9pm.
