Sharon Louden

Sharon Louden graduated with a B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from Yale University, School of Art. Her work has been exhibited in numerous venues including the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, the Drawing Center, Carnegie Mellon University and Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. Her work is included in permanent collections including the Neuberger Museum of Art, National Gallery of Art, Arkansas Arts Center, Yale University Art Gallery, Weatherspoon Art Museum, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Louden's work has garnered press accolades in various publications, such as the New York Times, Art in America, Washington Post and Sculpture Magazine. She has participated in residencies at Tamarind Institue, UrbanGlass, and Art Omi, as well as received a grant from the Elizabeth Foundation.

Recent exhibitions include a major survey at the Neuberger Museum of Art in Purchase, New York, and group exhibitions at the Jewish Museum, the List Art Center at Brown University, Katonah Museum of Art, and Patrick Heide Contemporary Art in London. Upcoming exhibitions include a solo exhibition of fiber optics, paintings and animation at the Birmingham Museum of Art in Birmingham, Alabama, opening this coming September and traveling to the Weatherspoon Art Museum in Greensboro, North Carolina in March, 2009.
